Methinks intelligence has little control over the heart, and therefore few beliefs are beyond the realm of any intelligent individual, for the heart sways with yearnings and flutters with desires, ignoring intelligence's reason. I hold errant hearts to be no indicator of intellectual worth, nor subject to any cause greater than their own yearnings, and so be we torn between two great forces, sometimes mutually parallel, and sometimes awkwardly askew. Our lives are then wrought with yearning to decode a universal truth for measurement of these forces, a certainty that likely will never exist.

Did anyone see The Simpson's tonight"
by claytoncapeletti intonights episode of the simpsons was about homer's prophecies for the end of the world.
in classic simpson's style they bash apocalyptic cults and the idea of an upcoming armaggedon.
it was great when they showed homer coming up with his date for the end of the world; it sounded a lot like the watchtower's version.

Oh well, I thought it didn't mess with the code, but it still is. Sorry for the formatting on the last post. :-)

I figured out my formatting problem!! Yay, all I have to do is unclick the "Automatic Cr/Lf" button, and the site doesn't screw with my html codes. Cool!

hackers are stupid
by tsunami_rid3r insomeone hacked into one of my chick friends account and redid her profile and made her come out to seem like she was totally into me as far as changing her username to "myname and me were meant to be" and commenting on my blog how much she loves me and sending me a message about the same also.
to make things even better she thinks i redid her profile.
same girl i did all those things for.

Suggest that she pick a better password and not give it out, and don't store it in her computer. :-)

Still religeous?
by John Doe ini'm curious how many here were witnesses.
for those that were, what are your current religeous affiliations?
i'm still evolving, but currently i consider myself to be a cross between an agnostic and a deist.

I've found all of your responses interesting. Maybe it's just me, but it seems to me as if people who've been Witnesses are more jaded to the idea of religeon than are others.
Me, I think the idea of a personal God is a bit narcissistic (spelling?). I really relate to the passage in Stephen Crane's "The Open Boat" where he talks about how Nature is flatly indifferent. I believe the Universe is flatly indifferent to individuals. It neither seeks to hinder us nor aid us. We are a product of our surroundings to a large extent, but we make our own happiness.
Most religeons are concerned with a place better than here--that we're enduring a short while for the sake of an eternity of happiness. I think we should concentrate on the here and now, appreciate the good things we have and work to make them better. I have a strong "carpe diem" aspect to my thinking.

A common analogy to explain Deism is that the Universe is like a clock that God created and wound, but then set it loose and does not actively participate in it's functioning. Ben Franklin said that Deism is probably true, but it's not very practical. :-)
Incidentally, Ben Franklin's autobiography is a great read--he's hilarious and a genius. After reading his work, I find the Discovery Channel's 100 greatest Americans including the likes of Tom Cruise to be insulting. But I digress. . .

You could check profiles of those you want to know about. Your curiosity into others choices is identical to many. The question had been asked many times.
carmel
Yes, I could if I had anyone in particular in mind, Carmel. I'm more interested in people's thoughts on their religeon, in which their profiles are normally not as dynamic as their responces to questions. I've already gotten two interesting, thought-provoking responses, which are exactly the type I was looking for. 8^) I'm sure this has been discussed many times, but I've noticed this is a high volume board, and the new ones might not have posted on this yet. My apologies if you're tired of reading this type of thread. -

I'm still evolving, but currently I consider myself to be a cross between an agnostic and a deist. I sometimes wonder what I'd be if I hadn't been raised in a religeous family.
